Just out of curiousity, why didnt you go to a 347?
already hada fully forged 331 kit in my garage with only 2k miles on it. if i didnt have it, i would have gone 347

r.barn, what do you mean you are having it fabbed? you arent doing the work yourself? i wasnt really excited about the 1 waste gate setup but after reading up on it i went for it. i found one guy running 2 of these waste gates to control is quad turbo big block and he said he can hold his boost at 2psi with no problems. but if i have boost creep i can easily put in a second one and plumb it to my boost controller. what size waste gates are you running on your setup?

I have friend of friend that can weld doing the fab up for me.
I'll be helping, but my welding skills are non-existent, and he's done this before on 4.6L stangs
so I'm letting him do most/all of the actual metal work.
This was always the plan. not a "true" DIY set-up I guess, more of
do it yourself with lots of help from a welder friend that you paid for his time set-up.

Using all the usual DIY parts like the BBK flipped headers and custom
layout though...... not an off the shelf "kit"

I'm running dual 38mm Tial wastegates

alright, got some work done today. after the test fit of the down pipes that were made for me went so horrible i have been dredding having to pay some exhaust shop to make my exhaust because i know it would be rediculously expensive. ive had a pair of flowmaster tail pipes in my garage for some time now and decided to put them to good use. i got the driver's side down pipe done before i ran out of wire in my mig welder so here are a couple pics.

i need more header wrap........a lot more

comes out like it was meant to be this way[sm=happybounce.gif]

i plan to just run a couple of feed of straight pipe off the back of this pipe and then ill have a muffler (and i use that term loosely) and then the exhaust will just get aimed out the side.

i have the day off work tomorrow so hopefully ill get the passenger side done then.

will your block handle 650 to 700hp. im doing a do it yourself turbo also but im stuck on my cold side i canhave ashop up here do it for me for 600.00 or i can buy the piping off ebay like you did. do they have one for a single turbo. i need the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler and the intercooler to the intake. i dont want to make more then 500hp on mine because of the block.

my block is rated to 1500hp so half that should be easy for it. the only reason im stoppping at 750 is because thats close to what my aod is rated at. when the aod dies ill go bigger injectors, more boost/nitrous and shoot for 1000ish hp
i would go with an ebay kit. $600 is rediculous. i spent about $200 on my piping kit (two kits, a 2.5" and a 3"). you can get a kit for about $100 and just cut the pipes yourself, all the kits are generic. the pipes were all really long so i just cut them to legnth. just be sure to get a kit that comes with t-bolt clamps and not just regular hose clamps.

hellion, the camera will be running the day it fires up..............and plenty of times after that

got some work dont on the other dp today.

i have to hold the last 90* piece in place for the pics because i dont have any slip fittings. i had one laying around for the driver's side but ill need to get one for the passenger side. without it, i would never be able to disconnect the exhaust from the downpipes. and if i cant do that, ill never be able to get to my spark plugs.

i got my oil filter relocation kit from summit today. also got my mufflers. i originally was going to run a 3" exhaust so i ordered 3" mufflers. i have since decided to go with 2.5" exhaust because the 3" would never fit so now i have to exchange my mufflers. no big deal, i wont have the car ready to fire for another week and even then i dont need mufflers to start it
