Default fuel pump and injectors

I am having a hard time finding the fuel system for my upcomming Vortech (s trim). I have a 97 GT and I pretty much only need to identify which fuel pump and which set of injectors I need. I found this fuel pump: http://www.treperformance.com/FuelPu...FuelPumps.html Is that the one I need? Also, where can I get injectors for this setup? I'd like to keep the price of the pump and injectors around $100 if I can. Any information on this would be great because I don't know much about the fuel system.

Thanks!

The injectors will be a lot more. Even used, they will run at least 100.00 if you find someone willing to part with them that cheap. You need to size your injectors for your planned output in HP. You can get injectors from a lot of places. Try Ebay and search for ford injectors. I would guess you will use anywhere from 30 pound per hour to 42 pound per hour injectors. Maybe higher if you really pump up the boost. It is a good idea to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator as well to fine tune your setup. Depending on boost level, another limiting factor is the size of your fuel lines. Anyway, this is a few things for you to think about. Good luck. Here is a sample...

Good luck with injectors for less than $100. I'm assuming you're doing the DIY vortech build? I've been looking around for a cheap set of 42lb'ers like everyone recommends.....but the cheapest I found was $299 new at the site for the rest of the accessories. I think the cheapest I saw on ebay was $250 for a dirty looking set of used injectors. I wouldn't skimp on the fuel system if I were you, just save up a while longer. I would imagine it'd be easier to save up another $300 than it would be to get another motor if something goes wrong.

Ok, I might have to wait a bit longer. BUT, I did talk to a guy at Vortech today to verify that everything on that list is what I'm giong to need to do this. He said, first, that everything is there; save the fuel pump, injectors and coil bracket. Then he said that if I want to save a little money I can buy their Fuel Management Unit. It costs $180 and is good for up to 10 psi of boost on stock injectors. Appearantly it works by sucking more fuel in when the car is in boost. Any opinions on this one? My car's engine is stock, so I'm only going to run 8-10 lbs for a while. I'm not sure if that is a safe way to go, though.

All their FMU is is a boost referenced regulator if Im not mistaken. Stock injectors will work up to a certain power level, but it really is cheap insurance to upgrade the fuel system. (by cheap I mean cheaper for an upgrade than for a new engine). What you really need is to get it up and running and then get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. They will look at different aspects of what is going on with your car (injector duty cycle, a/f ratio, etc...) to let you know if your fuel system is up to par. And you can get cheap injectors, but remember you get what you pay for, just like anything else.

I wouldnt trust it at that power level. Basicly a FMU spikes the fuel pressure while under boost which makes up for the poor fuel system. This worked great for me when i was only at 5lbs of boost on a 100% stock motor but at the power level youll be at id rather do it right the first time around. Even with the added pressure the stock injectors will only supply so much fuel at 100% duty cycle and it probably wont be enough. Id rather spend the extra $200 than have to worry about leaning it out popping the motor every time you get on it

Alright, so the verdict is to just suck it up and buy the good stuff. Which brand/size should I get? Nanaki said that 30lb or 40lb would be good. If so, which ones would be good for a Daily Driver? Thanks for all the help, by the way.

again, what target HP are you going for? There are calculators out there that will help you determine the size injectors you need. The calculator I have on my computer says a supercharged v8 application running at 400HP will need at least 40lb per hour injectors. As far as fuel pumps, there are so many I dont know where to start. Just look around at any reputable race parts dealer. Same with injectors. You can start by checking out FRPP. They are more expensive, but at least you can start there and see what they have and then look around and see if you can find it cheaper. I get a ton of stuff from ebay. Just have to be careful who you buy from.

Hey, do you have any recommendations forsellers from ebay? I know there are a lot but if you buy a lot from that site, you're bound to run into the sameseller more than once. Just looking for recommendations. And to answer the questions about HP, I am looking to get whatever I can out of the equipment I've stated here for the time being. I'm thinking no more than 350hp is what I can expect with the S trim and the Methonal kit. If I get more, great, but I don't want to get my hopes up. NOW, from there, I plan on working on the drive train. Limited slip diff., hardened axels, better transmision. Then I'll work on the motor. I want to use the s/c I'll already have on there, so I might just pull that motor out and forge the internals. Then, I'll turn the boost up. By that time, I'll need a different ignition system, fuel system, etc. This is many years down the road. The goal is to reach 600+ HP. For now, I just want my car to be dependable and fast. I drive all the time and I want to keep the engine healthy. So if I need to get expensive injectors to make that happen, so be it.

Alright, so any pointers for injectors would be great. There is one link in one of the posts of this topic that has injectors being sold on ebay. Will those work? Here's the fuel pump I will probably get: http://www.treperformance.com/FuelPu...FuelPumps.html Thanks again for all the help.
