Do you mean 650-700 for just the additional parts and install? Or for gears, parts, and install? If it's just additional parts and install you're getting screwed over. Other than the bearing kit and a couple quarts of oil I can't think of anything else that would be necessary. And together those are only around 100 or so, which means you are paying another 600 for the install of just some gears. I'd ask him to tell you exactly what all you will be getting in detail if I were you.

To put it in perspective, most people on here say gears should run anywhere from 200-400 for the install. I got a quote on my as yet to be installed gears for 340. And that is includingthe lsd I'm still saving for. So gears should be a bit less. You should first ask that guy to break down all you are going to be getting, and then call around and get a couple more quotes. Don't just settle on the first mechanic for anything, not unless you knowand trust them and thier work.

if its an 8.8 rear end with posi, its more, the labor is a bit longer, you may need to rebuild the differential , you have to put in limited slip additive, if its done right they always check for bearing preload, back lash and properly shim it too

Depends on where you go I reckon. I bought the Motive Gear 3.73 set and had Steen Racing here in Nor**** do the install. The guy quoted me $200 for the install and the only thing he had to add that didn't come with the set was the fluid and friction modifier.

i would go with the 4.10's in an auto unless your putting down over 400 rwhp, you dont need that much gear with more horse power

$650 should include gears.
I got mine installed including them providing gears for $500

If you provide gears it should not be more than about $300.
