Boostin a ricer
Lookin at pickin up around a 98 eclipse 4 cyl turbo. I'm plannin on rebuildin the motor right off the bat seein as most of em from around that yr in my price range have over 100k on the clock.
Anyways, my question is, if I were to raise the boost on the stock turbo, what needs to be done to keep it somewhat reliable? It'd be nice to have some good boost, but I don't wanna blow the thing up either. I've heard about kids uppin the boost on neons and what not and throwing bearings, not somethin I wanna run into. Is there anything I can do along the lines of a basic rebuild to make it a little more boost safe? Anybody know what the stock boost level is and HP rating?

stock boost is 10psi, stock motors in that car if its a 4G63 motor should be good to about 17-20 psi, i would stick with the 17 range, head gaskets start to go after that. stock turbo will probly get you to around 15-16 psi
