simple newb questions on Nitrous...
Been doing as much research as i can, buti have a few simple questions on nitrous oxide.
First off considering you mount your tank in your trunk, or wherever, not sure where the common spots are, what happens if you go into an accident? What happens if the tank gets nailed or the top gets smashed off? Im almost positve that nitrous is illegal for street use or at least in MA, but i know people use it anyway, so is this dangerous having the tank in your car like this for street use?
Also say you were using like a 100 dry shot with a normal 10lb tank. How far will the tank last you?
Also when is the ideal time to use nitrous. Like is there a certain speed or RPM your supposed to use it at , or a safe time to use it?
Lastly, for a carburated car, what kind of modifications should be done to make the nitrous setup work well. I know thatyou should obviously use it on a well maintained engine, and im guessing you should have a certain spark plug, but should you have an upgraded fuel pump as well? Any info or insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

if you got in an accident your tank would prolyl get punctured and either explode or just let all of the nitrous out. there is a thick seat between you and the tank.
as far as a 100 shot on a 10lbs bottle. MABY a soild 6-10 runs
ideal tiem for nitrous is CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG after 2,500 rpm's all the way up to your redline or right before.
remember you dotn want to spray past redline or you will lean your engine out. they make window switchs to ensure you wont.
as far as street legal. here in michigan it says nuthing about it on the streets

I get 15 0-130-150 pulls or so. most wet kits have a wide open throttle switch, don't spray below 2500rpm and most states don't care but street racing is illegal so they will prolly think somethings up its on. And if you open the bottle with no line on it, the Nitrous comes out and won't even blow the bottle over, nitrous is non-flamable and it's under 1300psi of pressure. that bottle is going no where if it gets a whole in it.
nitrous is non flamable and WONT explode like it does in the movies...as american said the bottle is secured with straps in the mounting position and isnt extremely high pressured if a hole gets into it no problem, another thing ill add is if your going to put a rev limiter on with nitrous you dont want just any rev limiter, most limiters drop one cylinder at a time reducing power untill the over rev stops, with nitrous this is not good, beacuse that cylinder that is "dropped" isnt recieving spark, so it tends to load the cylinder with nitrous and once that loaded cylinder is ignited its not too pretty unless its not your car. you need a rev limiter which will drop one cylinder for one rotation fire that cylinder the next rotation.
a small programmer that mounts up for the nitrous. basically it controls the range or "window" of your RPMs when your spraying which you can set to whatever you want. like the others said it eliminates the chance of backfiring.
Some states state that nitrous is illegal to use. You may also want to consider that it may be illegal to transport in a non-approved hazardous material vehicle. They may get you for that or not having a hazardous material license.
You do not want to spray under 3k or you will have problems.
I would get about 8ish passes on a 10lb. bottle. There would be some left when I refilled.
When you do the juice, I would recommend a rpm window switch, bottle warmer, and 1 step colder plugs. (100 shot+)
