This is my first nitrous kit so I'm trying to figure out what's normal and what's not. I have a 96 Cobra with K&N filter, MAF, and BBK twin 65mm TB.

I have the Nitrous Express kits NEX-20922-10 (Nitrous Oxide System, EFI Single Nozzle, Wet, 250 hp, 10 lb. Bottle) and NEX-GENX-2 (Upgrade Kit, Nitrous Oxide, Gen-X2, Bottle Heater, Pressure Gauge, Fuel Switch, Blow Down Fitting and Tube). I also have a BMN NitroControl window switch. I did not install the system.

When the nitrous fires, it surges ahead (a pulsing) 2-3 times before theincrease is steady. Is that typical?

 

sounds like you have a soelinoid problem, was the kit used when you got it?

 

It was already installed when I bought it. The previous owner is a good friend. I used 2 tanks of nitrous in the last few months he had it. He told me that's "normal" I just don't think he knows what he's talking about.

 

Sounds like you have a little air in the lines. Maybe you need a purge.

 

Forgive my ignorance, but when you purge don't you just purge until it's all white "smoke"? You don't have to purge after that, right? Or do you?

 

just purge for a second maby less.

it just get's rid of the bad nitrous in the line's, so you are shooting fresh juice.
