Default Lookin to do diy turbo

Ihave a 87 mustang gt with 70,000 miles on it,i want to do a diy turbo(low boost prob like 8-10 psi)as cheap and as safe as possible.Ive been looking in to supercharging but im going to do that when i build my future motor. Anyway i decided for cost reasons and just for fun im going the diy tubo route. Now i've tried the search but didnt find the answers i was looking for. Ive never really delt with turbos before so im reaserching as much as possible. but any info on parts ill need or anything i need to do to make it work would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

alright man. youll probley start with a turbo. id recommend a masterpower t70 turbo. cheaply id go with a turbonetics wastegate and vbc, then a blow off valve of your choice. then you should probly move on to a bigger fuel system and a cam. im running this system exactly with water/methanol injection and i put down 437 to the back wheels at 8psi. any other questions just ask.

honestly i wouldnt even run a intercooler for a diy setup. i dont. its just $1000+ when you can get the same gains for a few hundred and some windshield washer fluid.id suggest flipin those headers around and make a crossover to the side with the most room to mount the turbo. (A battery relocation would help). my engines in a bronco so there was tons of room so it was alot easier to plumb for me.

Look into the quicktime turbo kit. It comes with everything, masterpower t70 included for 2900 bucks. Can't beat that with a stick. Hell, the kit even comes with an intercooler.

the cheapest and best way is to piece together the kit your self look at pony down . com they have good quality parts. you will need for above 300 rwhp injectors (30lbs and above, $200-$300) , spark plugs, fuel pump($120), MAF($100-$200), Hot side ($300-$800) Turbo ($650 Master power T70 or T60) Cold side piping ($50-$150), Intercooler (optional but i would put a cheap one in than none at all- $50-$400), Turbo oil drain ($30-$75), Blow off valve ($50-200), Waste gate(50-200) down pipe(100-350), longer spark plug wires (depending on the hot side- 30-80) you dont really need a tune but it is high reconmended for enginesafety andthe mosthorsepower gains.i would suggest a megasquirt they are cheap and goodBUT it is more hands on due to that it isyou that is tuning itwhich in my book is a plus. i would highly suggest looking at turbo mustangs . com they have a great f orum there for turbo mustangs.
