you cant usually just remove the cats and pass inspection unless you find some shop that doesnt care (thats what i do). what you should do though is just buy and off road h or x pipe and keep your old one, and when inspection time comes around switch them out real quick

after talking to a friend that said i can use an O2 simulator i think i will do that so i don't have to switch anything out for emissions. but other than that i just need a new X or H pipe?

I don't know where you live but I think at the station i go to some of the guys will look under the car w/ a mirror to check for cats. There's a few companies making midpipes that bolt together at the cats so you can swap out the cats and straight pipes, that would be alot easier than swapping the whole midpipe. I'm going to be ordering a Bassani O/R X soon that's setup that way.

There will be a dramatic sound difference when you put the off road x-pipe on. It will be LOUD AS HELL!!!! Just a heads up.

i heard that once you remove the cats that the ecu/ecm starts adjusting itself and your engine would start running either to rich or to lean, then i heard that there is this thing you plug into your o2 sensor so that it always reads fine. and for emmissions im in california and they are strict on that, but you can always find a crooked place that will pass you for the right price that is.

I believe most handheld tuners have the ability to disable the after-cat o2 sensors. I'll be picking one of those up shortly as well. I haven't heard of the ecu adjusting itself, but the after-cat sensors reading rich from the lack of converters will trip a check engine light code.

You can punch them out to. You will need to get the tune done though to make sure the computer knows or thinks that the emmissions are good. The front O2 sensors need to be in, but you can also get an O2 sensor rear delete kit for this. I think you may have to buy a welded bung to add this though. I am most likely going to punch out my cats and have it tuned for emmissions.
