Default Just got nitrous!!

So I just got my nitrous kit in the mail and I was informed by Doug at Bamachips that I would need to convert it to a wet kit to run it safely. Is he correct, or can I get away with a dry 75 shot on my '05 GT?

Edit: Also, if I do convert it to wet, do I need to use the $300 zex kit or can I get the $170 NOS kit?

Everything I've read says on the newer drive by wire cars you need the wet kit. I have the Zex wet kit on my car, easy to install. I don't know anything about the NOS kit for comparison though. If Doug - a talented tuner - is telling you that you need the wet kit for your car, I'd think he's correct.

Ya that is what I figured.

Which nitrous kit do you have now (i.e. Zex, NOS, etc)? Do you have a link to the NOS kit your referenced for $170 and maybe some more detail on what you have in hand?

With that information we might be able to answer that question.

I have a Zex but I think the only way I would be able to make it work is if I opened up the NMU, which I don't want to do. I think I'll just sell it w/o the bottle and pick up a kit without a bottle.

I was just checking the Zex web site to see what the instructions are for the dry to wet kit, but I couldn't find them in the list. The picture of the kit though looks to me like you would need to pick up the fuel rail adaptor separately from the kit. By the time you got all the conversion parts, you would probably be just as well off to do what you are thinking - sell the dry kit parts and buy the wet kit.

I was thinking about it while driving home today and trying to figure out how to add a fuel solenoid -

the Zex wet kit is so easy and the NMU self contained that I didn't have to think about how to wire up the solenoids when I put it in my car. I'm sure you can make either kit work, but at what cost by the time you assemble everything you need, and then you still have a system that was designed as one working unit.

Exactly. I heard to make it work I could get a NOS dry to wet kit, but then I would hvae to get in the NMU, and do some re-wiring in there. Or, I could sell the kit and pick up a complete wet kit with everything, bottle heater, purge, blow down tube, window switch, all the goodies minus a bottle for ~$600. I am going to sell it if I can find an interested buyer, if not that sucker is getting re-wired.
