Please Help Vortech Supercharger
OK LAST SETUP DIDNT THINK ABOUT ANY BLOW OFFS VALVES OR ANYTHING. WHAT IS THE BEST SOUNDING ONE ALSO I DONT HAVE A MAF, INJECTORS AND PUMP I KNOW THE FUEL DOESNT MATTER BUT WHAT MAF SHOULD I USE AND WHERE SHOULD IT BE PLACE SO YOU CAN HEAR IT THE LOUDEST. ALSO DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A AFTERCOOLER TO RUN IT. I AM NEW TO THIS THANKS
What year is the car...you probably will need a by-pass valve for whatever car its on so you wont hear it anyway, I use a pro-m maf for mine, and you will need a fuel system, injectors and a pump at least for most setups. Dont need an aftercooler, but if you have the money I would get it.
ALL CAPS ARE HARD TO READ. PLEASE STOP USING THEM.
You don't want a blowoff valve for a supercharger, unless you're running a blow-through MAF setup. Most factory kits are designed for draw-through MAFs, which can only use bypass valves (which are pretty silent). And, even if you wanted to use a blow-through MAF, you would need to modify the kit to accept it.
I'm not sure what you mean by fuel not mattering, but it matters a lot. You WILL need to upgrade your fuel system, or use an FMU (which is a band-aid fix). I have a Vortech V3-Si kit, and I use a SVT Focus in-tank pump, a Lightning 90mm MAF, and Ford 42lb injectors. If you don't have a strong enough pump, you can't get enough fuel. If you don't have a good enough MAF, you will run super-lean at WOT and can damage your engine. If you don't have powerful enough injectors, you can't get enough fuel at WOT, and again you'll go lean and can cause engine damage.
And, after all that, you'll need a tune to use all of it or else your engine probably won't start at all, and if it does it will run terribly and may die! Are you tuning yourself or having a shop do it?
Also, MAFs are silent. You should never "hear" a MAF. They just meter air.
Finally, you don't need an intercooler to run a supercharger, but it does help you make more power. If you run it without an IC setup, you will have higher charge air temps, which translates into reduced spark timing to compensate (which decreases your power), as well as increased risk for detonation with an improper tune.
