Default Problems with KB?

So, I'm new to Mustangs. Been around muscle cars quite a bit though. I let some of the local Vegas peeps know that I'm leaning KB for my '08 and a few are telling me that there are issues with the KB in the hot desert that is Vegas. Has anyone heard anything about this? Unless I can come up with some kind of evidence supporting these claims, I'm still planning on going with the KB. If someone can substantiate what I've heard then I'll probably go Whipple. So, let's hear it if you've had heat or dust related problems with your KB.

By the lack of response, I'm guessing that means, "no"? OK... looks like I'm going with the KB.

Never heard anything about that. I feel like though that it would affect both the Whipples and KB's. But hey that's just me.

Well they do tend to run hotter than a centrifugal S/C, however, with that said, they can be intercooled (KB does not sell the kit though, you'll have to fab one yourself), and they can use a bypass valve which does allow the S/C to run a little cooler. My KB does not have a bypass valve and runs at approx 175 degrees ferenhiet after a little road trip. Now it is hot to the touch, but still cooler than the engine at 180-200 degrees depending on the spot. The desert heat (100 degrees) isn't going to have a huge effect on the KB as the engine is only going to ge as hot as the thermostat and cooling system allows, however it is a good idea to at least have the bypass valve kit and or an intercooler for out west.

Kenne Bell does have an intercooled kit. I have one on my 2006 Mustang GT and gets pretty hot here. Going to be my first summer and have driven in about 90 degree weather and IAT usually stays below 150.

You're talking about the SN95 kits. I've got an S197. The '08 kit only comes one way... 2.6L, intercooled and with a bypass.

well and like xxdmxx said there IS an intercooled version for the 2V's. I haven't seen anything with the S197's but I'm sure with yours being an intercooled only version then you should be more then ok.

And jthorn9 is right on the fact there isn't an intercooled version for his car if he's going off of his 95 GT. 96-04 GT's have the intercooled or nonintercooled options. 05+ also has the same options. Look under the Price List section and you'll see it.

But not for '08. The '05-'06 kit is different from the '07-'08 kit. There's only one kit available for the '08.

Well from the looks of it, they ARE the same kit, all you have to do is retain that filter canister. I'm guess that's if you would want a non-intercooled version but I don't know why. They're is nothing saying that it is 05-06 it just says 05 and up.
