DIY Blower Porting
I have an 07 Shelby 500 with a stock eaton blower. I want to port it, and based on the pictures I've seen, the actual porting doesn't look difficult. So my questions are:
1) How difficult is the blower disassembly (or rather reassembly) and do I need to get any replacement gaskets, or similar
2) What type an how much lubricant does the blower hold
3) Anything else I need to know before I fire up the dremel?
thanks,
Ken

if you dont know how to take apart a blower do you think you should be modifying it? If you port something incorrectly you can either get no benefits from it. Or possibly just ruin your blower... its not that expensive to have someone port it.
Sounds like you're out of your league on this one .... but don't let that stop you .... I do it often as well ...

It's not too bad if you don't disassemble the rotors.
For gaskets use permatex gasket maker. (I use the kind in the blue container for the snouts)

Make sure the rotors don't hit & try not to take off too much if you don't know what you're doing. The big area that needs improvement is the inlet. The outlet can be carved out some. Welding up the sound slits will help a very small amount, but it will make the supercharger whine a lot louder when you get on it (some like it, some don't). The only problem there is you want to have an experienced person do it so the case doesn't get warped.

Yes. Most superchargers for daily driven cars have them to keep the noise down. There are some companies out there that try to get max efficiency out of them so they don't put any in their cases, but the whine is a lot louder. It's not a big efficiency gain to not have them so putting them makes for a quieter car without a big loss.

The one on the right doesn't have them. They're there to produce pressure waves to help the whine coming from the supercharger down.

Go talk to a guy named "POSI" on svtperformance.com. He lives around Louisville, KY, and ports eaton/tvs blowers for a living. He is very good and price is very reasonable. He has done hundreds of hours of research/porting. I will go with him sometime when I get a cobra/GT500.
