Default Intercooler info?

Hey guys, I have been doing some research as I plan to supercharge my 03 GT and am still unsure on what all is needed to run an intercooler. First off i plan on using a vortech headunit and would like to install an intercooler right off the bat instead of runnin it without one. I have checked out some of the stickys about intercooling a vortech blower and am still unsure of what all is needed. Would i need to buy an aftermarket coolant tank and other hoses etc....? It seems like a good diy fmic kit from ebay will do the job just fine after reading a lot of the comments by you guys who went that route. Hopefully you guys that have succesfully installed and are runnin a set up similar to my desired one can chime in here and hit me with some knowledge. Thanks for all your help.

for a a/a intercooler, you need:
the intercooler
a pipe kit, or two
hose clamps, preferably t-bolt clamps
pipe couplers

what you need to do is determine the route the piping will take from the vortech, to the intercooler then back up to the tb and order the piping needed

Thanks luckythirteen13 I was hopin you would jump in here. Yea I think I can handle the install, I just noticed that a lot of the guys with intercoolers have some kind of extra "expansion tank" or "supercharger coolant reservoirs" if it is an intercooled set up and wasn't sure if that was needed or just an extra goodie under the hood. Thanks for clearin that up guys, If anyone has some spare time to post some pics of your engine bays that would be helpfull. Thanks again.

the tanks your seeing are probably because the car has a air/water intercooler.

here is my build thread, i know our cars are different but you can still get some ideas about how the piping can be routed

you will need a IAT sensor(intake air tempature) relocation kit if your going with a lightning MAF.Its easy to install all you do is splice 2 wires. What are your goals with the hp as i can tell you the mistakes i made if your going for the hp that i have

so far so good, its been like that for about 3 months, the tuner said i should be good as long as i dont go anymore, he's seen them go up to 450rwhp but thats a crap shoot.Over the next year will be the test for it because i plan on going to the track often and will be driving it much more and harder around town. I also heard that the rods should hold up better if you dont let them get to hot as in letting them cool down and not hot lap it at the track. To me i plan on changing the block so if it goes it goes.I'll post up if it does so keep a look out, hopefully i get a good amount of time in and it may never blow.I guess its a gamble at anything 400 and up on the stock block
