Octane Booster
Yeah, i agree, I would never try that no matter how much i trusted the source, it's just kinda sketchy!
Although it's all a complete waste if you aren't tuned for it. You can also get it online for like $6 a bottle if you order a case. That would last me all season basically
actually when you talk octane "points" that represents a 1/10 of an actual octane level
so if you buy a booster that says it wil raise it 2-3 points...that is like going from 92.5 to 92.8 or something. You are NOT going from 87 to 90 or somthing

actually if you read the article I posted you will see I wasn't talking about 1/10 points.
That would be true if you could achieve max timing with your current setup/octane level.....but a guy running pump gas with an 03 cobra isn't even close. The OPs factory tune on an 03 cobra is probably only allowing 15 degrees max. There is plenty of power left from increasing the timing on his car. Just..... The pump gas he is running won't allow much more than that without detonation.

dude trust me..... i've been at this game for more than a few years
and i spray... so i am very familiar with timing and octane and how they work together to get the most from my car
i understand your theoretical idea... but your not understanding this:
by adding octane you HAVE to add timing to just get back to where you were, i have run slower with 102 octane and 20* timing than when i run 87 octane and 14*
can you do it... yes
but it takes a lot of trial runs to see what works, and i highly doubt that everyone here is looking to run around on $7/gallon gas to make 5-10 more hp
i'm saying your better off powertuning your car at the track and know what changes to make based on weather.
be as advanced as you can be... on the lowest octane... and stay safe
It's obvious you don't think it's worth the time or money....that's not the same as saying it doesn't work. Ask any reputable tuner whether or not there is power to be gained by tuning for a higher octane they will all say yes. I don't know what you are running, but 102 race gas is overkill for 99% of cars, probably yours included. Sorry, that is a poor example for what we are discussing here.
