Well they scan your OBDII for any emissions related codes, check all the other safety required crap and that's it. MA has tough inspection but they don't use the sniffer on OBDII equipped cars.

Failed emmisions teast for NOX. Was wondering if my longtube headers are the cause and if i can find a way to pass with out removing them.

Nox Limit 450
My car l 880

Almost double. Also my check engine light is on from not having MIL or Tuned. I put cats on why is the light still on?
Soo even if you have a catted mid pipe you still wont pass? Do you still need Mil eliminators?
Thanks

If you don't want to see the CEL from the o2 sensors giving it a signal then get the mil elims. The exhaust has to be a certain temp in order for the cats to work to their full potential. With the longtubes, exhaust gas won't get that hot, so the cats aren't removing all the pollutants it needs too.

They are checking to make sure the gas cap is sealed on when closed. So fumes are not being let out of the tank.

Your chances of passing emissions tests with LT's isn't really that good. That is why the shorties hooked up to the stock cat pipes make sense. Some added HP without all the hassles. And, about no testing in many states, that will end sometime soon for sure. There are even states (Massachusetts for one) that are trying to enact legislation to ban anything other than stock, factory exhaust systems on cars, trucks & SUV's. Real bummer, huh? It is going to get much worse before it ever gets better. The NYS and local cops in New York love to give out sound pollution tickets for illegal (obnoxiously loud) exhaust systems and overbearingly loud sound systems. One complaint and they keep their eyes and ears open for you. Kinda sucks, but it is reality.
