Default X-Pipe

Thinking of an x-pipe without cats. Any body have a take on this? Is it legal? What fines $$$ are levied if car does not have cats?

Looking for answers

If you're caught there will be a stiff fine. As long as you're not out there acting a a** you'll be ok...

yes you need them, penalty depends on state laws. Have had no cats for years never had an issue tho.

It is definitely illegal.

In actual practice, enforcement probably differs from what could be done/imposed, and you might just have to fix it.

Why not just get an X-pipe that retains the converters? They're a lot freer-flowing now than the old GM pellet-type cats of the 1970's, y'know . . .
