Who knows more about upgrading a p1sc to a D1sc than me?

Lightbulb Who knows more about upgrading a p1sc to a D1sc than me?

I currently have a p1sc. Uograding to a d1sc. Procharger asks for 1500 pending nothing else needs to be done to it. So im sitting here looking at it. And im wondering if i can do thi myself. It seems the only difference is the impeller. A simple impeller swap looks to take like 15min. Only problem i could see is if the housing needed to be machined due to a larger impeller o.d. anyone know if the housing needs to be? Or what the stock impeller o.d. is? Anything else make a p1sc a d1sc besides the impeller?

The case is the same. The inlet and outlet is the same diameter. The volute (impeller) is different between the units. The specification guide shows the only difference is the flow capabilties. 1200cfm vs 1400cfm. Which is directly attributable to the volute. It is not a 15 min job. If it were, ProCharger wouldnt be charging $1500 for the upgrade. I would think they are at the very least, checking the tolerances of the head unit to make sure the entire piece is within specs before reassembly. I'm sure they dont want to send out something that is going to grenade within the first 1/4 mile run. To purchase a D1 from the get go is about a $230 upgrade option over a P1. Being a dealer for them, and living within 20min of the facility, makes me want to ask one of the guys there about doing this now.
Spending $1500 for a 2psi increase in boost isnt worth it in my IMO.

just called my contact there. He said the two pieces of the case of the P1 and D1 are exactly the same. The transmission inside is the same. The difference is the volute AND the shap of the housing the volute sits in. If you put a D1 volute inside a P1 case, without changing the housing, its a no go. Wont fit.

If you are looking to increase boost you can get a larger diameter crankshaft pulley. ATI Performance sells a largerr pulley. As well as Innovators West in Salina, KS.
This would be the cheaper/easier route to pursue.
