worth the effort?
hey guys, just recently got my 04 Mustang and trying to figure out what all the last guy did to it and figure what next to do to it. I was thinking a supercharger mostly cause i want more of a kick so to speak when i hit the accel. would a supercharger be worth the time and money or no? I know a v8 would be great but being in college money is not THAT available yet.
It would be worth it, as long as you have the money. It will add some good power to the engine. But also know that the supercharger is just the beginning of the intake cycle, so if you add a larger MAF, Throttle body, Intake manifold, and all those will be compounded when the supercharger is on there. The supercharger would give you the kick you want, and if you wanted more itd be quick with a few mods to open up and let your engine breath.
do nitrous, i thought about supercharging for the longest time, my pros and cons where, superchargers are $$ and then you have to tune them $$ get all kinds of other parts $$ change oil in them (procharger) time $$, installation time and $$, and nitrous is there when u need it, and just chills when u dont....I have had zex and venom, both great kits, why the zex is rated for 125 and venom 100 I dont know....but at $40 and bottle fill, it can be expensive to have fun.....
that's a poor explanation. the right explination is if you want to save some money but still want to get 100+HP, get the nitrous, if you have the money, get the supercharger.
you have to (or really should) get your car tuned for nitrous too. get a vortech, you tap your oil pan and it uses your car's oil. most shops can install a supercharger in a couple hours. people on this forum did it in a day. the centrifugal superchargers are there when you need it too. you don't make any boost until 3000RPM. when you buy the kits for a supercharger, it's just like a kit for nitrous. you buy the kit so you have everything you need so you don't have to keep buying stuff (unless you want some more ponies
). and with nitrous, it's best if you buy a kit, plus the safety kit (like NX safety kit if you get that NX wet kit), a flip chip and a nitrous tune for when you use it. that stuff adds up too.
