Default ? on offroad x pipe.

I want to get a free flowing x pipe for my car. but i also want to stay emissions legal. i see all the xpipes with cats on them are around 400$ which is pretty steap compared to the offroad ones. my ? is if i was to get an offroad xpipe and have some catco freeflow cats welded in would that worK i can get the cats really cheap and have it done for about 50$. that would bring the cost of the offroad xpipe and cats to a total of about $200. let me know what you guys think.

well I know that you would have to cut out sections of the xpipe out to accomodate the cats and maintain the original length of the pipe itself. if you can do that while leaving the linkage to the headers in tact i dont see any problems with it. one thing I would make sure to do would be to buy an x pipe that is the same diameter as a catted x pipe for your car since in the end, it will end up catted anyway -you dont want to have any back pressure or flow related problems.

honestly...if ya wanna stay legal...just save ya money a bit more...pypes has a catted x-pipe for ya for like 370 or something...either way you look at it...its better if the pros weld it for ya instead of some shop....just get a catted x-pipe...dont waste ur time with that complicated way

just get an o/r x and when it comes time for emissions testings, put back your stocker and pass.

SLP makes one with removable cats for 400, that way you can have the best of both worlds. just bolt them back on come time for emmisions testing

just buy a h-pipe with out cats. When emissions test is required replace with stock. This is the CHEAPEST method! We ALL do this. It's not hard to remove and replace!! Good luck!!
