Turbo Kit Problems Please Help.
I just finished putting my HP Performance Kit on my car and I have some serious problems.[sm=headbang.gif][sm=smiley19.gif] My idle is serging and I can't find any vaccum leaks. Has anybody had any of these problems? Does anybody have any advice of what I might be forgetting to check or do? Please help ASAP.
Welcome to the world of nailing down your idle in a turbo vehicle. My first suggestion is to get the car to a reputable dyno tuner ASAP. Until I did that, my car would barely run. After hooking up with a good tuner, the car is completely streetable, and other than an occasional idle surge which isn't too bad, it runs great, and I drive it alot.
What kind of MAF did the kit come with? Reason I ask is because I'm starting to think that my occasional surge it being caused by my C&L 76mm. I've come to this decision due to the fact that I've replaced the following parts trying to correct it...
TPS
IAC
TFI Module
Ignition pickup
Plug Wires
Coil

Oh please don't say that. I got that exact Mass Air. [sm=smiley18.gif][sm=smiley19.gif]
The guy from HP said that it was due to my fuel being too high. He said I should back down the Fuel Pressure and see if the serging stops. My friend helped me adjust the idle and the serging stopped but now I have hanging RPM when I let go of the gas. I smell serious amounts of fuel too. So I think I'm gonna start my car later today and just start lowering the PSI until it sounds better. (have no gauge so it'll be by senses)

I've reset my idle several times now. Sometimes the surging will stop for awhile, but it always comes back after taking it out and driving it a few times. Be careful leaning the car out too much. You probably know what can happen there. I honestly can't stress enough the importance of a good tune in regards to drivabilty, and longevity of your motor. You have put a turbo kit on a motor not intended to be turbocharged. Under boost, your car's computer is going to be thinking WTF?!?!? It's best to have an expert tuner go in a manually set the computers parameters to handle it. There's a chance you can get it running somewhat ok by messing with FP & timing, but after spending almost $6000 on your kit, don't let a few hundred more dollars keep you from having it running good, and most important...safe.
No I know that but they guy at the shop said that I shouldn't even bother bringing it in until I have the MSD 6 BTM (which I was already planning on buying). I just need it to run semi decently until I get that in.

fuel pressure at idle does nothing because the computer controls afr. you have to have the fuel set above 40psi and take it to a tuber. and get a pro-m maf
