Default quick nitrous question

How far away should the "fogger" or nozzle that shoots nitrous into the intake be from the tb? the intrustions said 6-18 inches away.

Im hearing mixed results from my friends who have or had nitrous...some say to put it closer to the tb, that your car will recact quicker to the nitrous being sprayed in. and others say its better a little farther away

any input will be appreciated

If it's a wet kit (and your Zex kit my not be, but for the purpose of this question it better be), you definately want it close to get the fuel inside the intake. If it's a dry kit, then you have spray it in front of the mass air meter so it can be read and the injectors will supply more fuel.

I put my nozzles basically as close as I can to the TB. Mine are always within maybe 2 inches. I have seen people drill them into their TB. The only problem is, they put it on the wrong side and the blades open and hit the nozzle. By adjusting the WOT switch, the nozzle then sprays directly into a throttle blade opened 50%. I would definatle not put my wet kit nozzle 6-18 inches down the intake tube.

closer is better. but 12 inches away wont hurt. My CAI had a built in hole about 12 inches away. When you hit the button, it takes a split seconds longer before it kicks in. Too far away and it wont be as cold.

i have the stock plastic intake. as of now the nozzle is about 5 inches away from the tb. I am seriously thinking about moving it closer after last night when i used nitrous. you could feel it wasnt getting there fast enough

please don't spread bogus info like that around...your gonna get someone to think you know what your talking about and they will actually do that.

where you place it depends on the intake tube you have. and also whether it's wet or dry.

if you have the rubber ribbed tube, i would mount it right in the tb. like the NOS directions show.... http://www.holley.com go there and follow the links to the instructions. and if it's wet mount ti there for sure.

all the dry kits work the same, except for the bottle in a bag kit.

when the nitrous sprays, it spikes fp via vacuum. brings your fp up to about 80 psi instead of 36.

the BIAB kit from compucar is the only one that sprays b4 the maf , and makes the car think it's just started and phattens up the fuel.

if you mounted the nozzle b4 the maf, you'd lose a lot of nitrous potential due to the ridges in the tubing. if you have a steel tube, then go b4 the tb a little if you want, but i like right in the tb best. just watch the angle, too high, it will hit the hood, too low you won't get it in. it will be blocked by the iac right there on the tb

NO!!!
Do not spray before the MAF.
The car will up the timing because of the cold dense air.
Not something you want to happen on the juice.

Exactly, what he said. That's why you retard it a little to run the juice too. A smart investment if you have the money, get a MSD Digital 6 box for your ride. It has several different ways to retard or advance the timing. Retards it (as much as you want too) when you hit the juice. Has launch control on it too. Great for spraying.

OOHH Man! Someone needs to delete this post before someone actually tries a few suggestions here.

I have heard a few reasons why it is recommended to place the Nozzle at least 6 inches away from the TB. Mainly to prevent puddling. If puddling happens this will cause what it is commonly referred to as a "Nitrous Hiccup". I placed mine about 6 inches from the TB and it works with no problems.
Have any of you guys seen how fast and hard the nozzle sprays while it is operating? A few inches will not make a difference.
