Rear axle alignment?
From what I've been told the rear axle is purposely misaligned just a little bit from the factory right? Anyone know exactly what those specs are? After I lower the car and adjust the panhard bar is it cool to align the rear axle perfectly straight or should I try to get it back to factory spec. Does anyone know why the rear axle was offset from the factory anyway? What does this do for handling?
Some people have reported that their axle was offset from the factory. I doubt this was by design. I would chalk it up to variances in manufacture. As far as I know, if the rear end is offset slightly, there are no ill effects. As far as I can see in the Ford Service Manual, there is no information about a "proper spec" for rear axle alignment. (then again, the factory setup is not adjustable)
For what it's worth, mine was perfectly centered from the factory. After installing the Roush springs, it moved 5/16". I re-centered it using an adjustable panhard bar.
