AIRBAGGING AN 06 GT
I NEED SOME ADVISE I HAVE ON 06 GT BUT I AM GOING TO PUT SOME 20 INCH DEEP DISH BULLITTS AND WANT TO KNOW IF AIR BAGGING MY RIDE WOULD LOOK BAD *** I THINK IT WOULD I HAVENT SEEN IT YET BUT FEEL FREE TO LEAVE YOUR OPINION
If you want to put airbags on your vehicle so be it, but you must first trade your Mustang in for an import in which you wish to rice out. JMO, but I would say that is a really BAD idea.

airbags aren't for imports, coilovers are. Leave the airbags to the hotrods and minitrucks. I installed an air suspension on my 99 ranger, but to get it this low I had to do a lot of cutting.

The rear axle of my mustang is only a few inches from the frame with just 1.5inch drop springs, so to really get your moneys worth with an air suspension you'd have to cut the frame. In the front you'd have to buy an airstrut to replace the stock strut assembly. Airstuts don't give you nearly as much adjustment as a straight airbag would. I got over 10 inches of lift in the front on that truck measured from the engine crossmember. I just don't see the point with a mustang since it's allready low and you're not going to be foolish enough to ride with it all the way down.
Plus there's the fact that your alignment will never be perfect with an airsuspension. you can get it close by choosing a psi for ride height and having it aligned at that height, but it will never be exact again after you let the air out the first time.
I'm sure you can find some new mustangs with airbags if you look around on the net, but I personally wouldn't do it and i've been there.

plus there's the initial cost, besides the airsprings being a lot more (airstruts in particular) the valves and compressors are expensive.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my air suspension, it was super cool and fun. It was also very reliable, but it just doesn't belong on a mustang IMHO. Buy a truck and slam it to the ground with an air suspension and you've accomplished something, seeing an allready low car a little bit lower isn't a big deal.
