Default V6 Tire Size Question

Hi folks,

I see a lot of people sizing up rims from the 16" to 17, 18, 19 and even 20...

From what everyone says, the rims get heavier, performance decreases.

Not so much with a V8, but problematic with the less torquey V6.

Has anyone tried DOWNSIZING the rims to 15"?

A quick tire calculation shows:

Specification
Width
Sidewall
Radius
Diameter
Circumference
Revs/Mile

Now that I will be adding a T-LOC which will add traction bygoing from 8.5" of tread to 20" of tread, would reducing the weight of the tires be an acceptable option?

Tires and rims will be cheaper, and should net a slightly smoother ride. The 16" are pretty hard (I can't imaging running 20").

Anybody try this??

If you have, which spacers will be needed so I don't tag the inside of the wheel wells/suspension?

Thanks

I dont think you can go smaller because of the brake diameter.

+1 on the brake clearance issues.. if you're looking for better performance, find some lightweight 16's and possibly low profile tires (for decreased diameter and weight).. the less rotating mass, the easier it'll be for those rear gears to put the power to the ground.

Good point.

Technically there's only 1/2" of difference, but if the 06 is designed to just clear the inside of the 16s then, yup, problems.

I'll check with the dealer for the exact specs on the brake clearance.

We can always measure it on the lift.

Thanks
