suspension mod questions
I am going to do the following suspension mods on my '05 GT (as recomended by Crazy Al in a previous thread)...
Lower control arm
Rear Sway Bar
Panhard Bar and Brace
K Member Brace.
I have a few questions,
1) I am going to try and do the installs myself. I am not a pro but I think I should be able to handle it. Is there any room for amateurism in the installation of these parts? For instance, I have read in other threads that it is recomended that gears be installed by a professional because if you do it improperly, you can mess up your car. Would there be a similar warning about installing any of the above?
2) Are there any special tools required that would not be in the average residential garage? Is a lift required or are jacks/ ramps sufficient? Does the order which the parts are installed make a difference?
3) I was thinking of getting the Steeda K member brace instead of the CHE with torque limiters because I will eventually get a ****er. I have heard that the after market shifters do not have binding problems and I thought I could save the $100 bucks and put it towards the shifter. Does this seem reasonable or would the torque limiters be helpful even with a new shifter?
4) I need to make the LCA and Panhard bar both adjustable because I might eventually get a 1 piece driveshaft, does this seem correct?
5) I have read that the panhard brace should be welded in place. Would I be able to install it and then bring it to a garage and have them weld it? Would a garage agree to do this?
6) Would the parts come with installation instructions or would I just have to rmember how the older parts are installed and install them similarly? Does anyone know of any threads which show how to install any of the above?
A lot of questions, I know but I would apreciate any help.
Thanks,
Dino

As you take parts off the car, you baisically put them on in the reverse order. I don't know about the K member as I have no personal experience with it, but the rest is easy. I used floor jacks and basic hand tools. If you have air tools they are a huge help.
Instructions are included or should be.
I had someone compress my front springs and change them out. He charged 25$. If you do springs/shocks. Which you should.
Oh, I love my Pro 5.0 shifter.

Ok, thanks for the reply.
Do you think springs/ shocks are more important than any of the above listed mods, or should I add it to the end of the list. It's my daily driver. I don't really race and I am trying to limit how much money I am spending on this round of mods.
