Default Front end shakes

So I got out today after having some new tires put on late yesterday (Yokohama 255/45/17). I was going down the road and when I accelerated to 80 mph I got a horrible shake in the front end. It freaked me out! I pulled over and looked and everything appeared normal. The other part of this equation is that I had the car lowered a week ago and went to have it aligned on Friday and the shop had to order the camber adjustment bolts (they'll be in tomorrow and the camber problem will be fixed). Is it possible for the car to get that type of shake from a camber alignment issue? They adjusted the toe when they had the car Friday. I am asking because I didn't notice it on Friday or Saturday. I had the new tires put on Saturday afternoon and didn't drive much until this afternoon could the change in tires increased the existing problem with the alignment? I had the stock perelli 235/55/17's on before.

I know jack about sspension on these beasts so I am looking for a little guidance here.

Thanks in advance!

Didn't appear to be a loose wheel but I'm gonna take the tourque wrench out and check.

Stupid socket set is at work! I wasn't able to put my tourque wrench on the lugs. However, I put all 250 pounds behind it on a socket wrench and cheater and it didn't even move. I'll be taking it in tomorrow to get the camber fixed and I'll have the shop look. I wonder if they screwed the balance up on the wheel?

So now I think I know what the problem is. I took the car to a diferrent NTB and had them check the balance on the wheel. The first wheel they checked (passenger front because thats where I felt the problem coming from) was not true. It has a small hop in the wheel. Nothing major but enough to be a problem at higher speeds. I'm not sure how I didn't notice it before! Could it have been the Perelli's masking the problem? They did have more sidewall? Anyways called the dealership and I'm pretty sure at the minimum I have to buy a new rim! I was planning on keeping the stock rims as I kinda liked the look. Well at 279.00 a rim I think I might change my mind and change all the rims (especially if more then one is damaged)! This sucks!

Why did you buy that size tire? Your stocktireswere 27" tall and you need a 235/55x17 or 245/50x17to get that tire height. Thebest tires are in the 235/55x17 size, The stock Pirellis andMichellin Pilot Sport A/S are as good as it gets in this tire size.

The tires you boughtare not the correct size and will make your speedo read incorrectlyand indicate that you are going faster than your true speed. You will also have lost some ground clearance with these little tires. Of course look on the bright side, your car will accellerate alittle faster with the smaller tires.

Ah, if you like your factory Bullit wheels just by a couple of take offs they are CHEAP, usually a whole set of wheels and tires can be had for $400 os so. A single wheel is usually about $100. The original Ford Bullits are very high quality, if you had on that is out of round it happened on the road or when they cranked the lug nuts on at 250lbs.+ Over torquing and incorrect lug nut torque also causes brake shimmy when hot, be careful and use a good torque wrench when fastening wheels to your car.

HTH!

Okay so I guess if you break a wheel sensor off inside a rear tire it will shake your car hard enough to make you think it's in the front!

Finaly found the problem. a broken strap for the tire sensor on the passenger rear side. They ordered a new one to replace it.

my old cadillac did that once and i ignored it thinking it was a bumpy road, the wheel fell off at 65.. sparks all over the place and a hefty repair cost. i never ignore those things anymore i would have freaked out too.

Yah, I should be able to correct for the tire size with the SCT I understand. I almost forget about that part. I am taking it in for a Nitrous window switch tomorrow and I'll get the shop to make the correction for the tire size.

Thanks,
