Putting on the Brakes.......

Putting on the Brakes.......
Ok here's the deal. When I'm flying down the local interstate at around 130mph and I lightly apply my brakes to slow down, they vibrate and it feels like they are grinding. I'm guessing because they heat up so much right?? Now the time has come to put on bigger and better Brakes. Rotors, pads, calipers??What are the best suggestions for upgrading my Brakes. Please share brands prefered and experiences you guys have had. Thanks alot, your ideas are much appriciated.

Big brakes are very expensive, anywhere from $1,500 (FRPP 14") to $2,400 (Steeda 14") for parts, plus installation labor. Plus to fit 14 inch rotors you will need to purchase, at minimum, 18 X 9.5 rims. You also have to make sure the new brakes will work with the Mustang's antilock system, some don't. All together, assumingyou don't already have 18 X 9.5's rims or better, you are looking at $3K to $4K (not including new tires) to upgrade. Personally I would rather spend that kind of money on a supercharger.
I hated the stock Mustang brakes, but before I upgraded the Rotors and Calipers, I tried Hawk HP Plus padsfront and rear (see Steeda's website for more info). What a difference. Yes they make dust, yes they are noisy, but boy to they stop (they disburse heat better too). Since you describe a grinding sensation, you might want to put new rotors on when you change the pads. It was $180 for front and rear pads,I installed them myself.
Good Luck!

pads, SS lines, and better brake fluid are sufficient for daily needs.
But if u want bigger, Stoptech is by far the best BBK setup. In fact, Saleen BBK's are just rebadged Stoptechs. I'm definitely putting some money down for it.

How about getting rotorpros rotors? Or these also:

...with these to compliment:

...and steel braided brake lines? These are what I'm looking at.

Thanks for your ideas. Going with bigger rotors and pads (as i can see now) is a little over budget for me at the moment. But Havoc, I liked the pages you put up. More in my price range. Thanks again

RE: Putting on the Brakes.......
Baer Erradispeed +2's........14" rotors with mounting H/W to move the stock caliper outward giving it more leverage and therefore increased torque. About 600 for front rotors and mounting H/W( I never include install prices if possible I do the work myself). Those with DOT4 fliud, better pads and SS braided lines should make quite an improvement.
Edit:
Before buying these get in touch with baer and have them send a template so you can fit test. You can go to thier site and download then print but you have to make sure the scale stays correct.
