DR-Tire ?
Finally found a rim that met my needs its ugly, cheap, and very light. This is only for the track and ride to so what tires would you recommend? The rim measures 17x9. I am looking at the Nitto's,M&H, and MT drag radials. I don't know that much about tires and can't find a whole lot of info on them so if there is another choice I am missing let me know.
okay, here's the skinny on nittos from someone who just spent $314 on some and then slapped down $409 for some mickeys[:@](they should be in tomorrow, mounted tuesday at the latest and then I'm hittin the track wed weather permitting)...nittos pwn my factory pirellis as far as gripping on the street, a night and day difference. But they are a hard compound DR and require a long, high-speed (50mph) burnout to be worth anything at the track...if you have tall gearing and am confident/comfortable with your tires turning 50mph with your car at a standstill, then suddenly gripping when you come out of the box, more power to you. Shorter gears will require a 2nd gear burnout. The mickeys are softer and therefore require a shorter and lower speed burnout to be effective. Many people who spun their nittos, bog their mickey radials. But the softer compound = shorter tire life.
p.s. if you have a way to drive your car to the track and then swap wheels (getting towed there, a pal's pickup truck etc) just get some dot slicks or straight slicks...but don't be afraid to drive DRs around town, I used nittos as my street tire on my z28 and haven't taken them off my mustang since I got them, and that includes 80-90mph highway cruising and rainy weather.
anyway, you'll notice that nittos have mixed reviews and everyone has a woody for mickeys...the nitto fans will tell you just heat the damn things up right and you'll be fine, but wouldn't you rather have a tire that basicly has 100% positive customer feedback?
edit: what mods do you have to get you to a 108 trap?

Thanks for the info I'll look into the bfg's and the mickeys. Another person just recommended the mickeys and he has a FI 6banger and broke his rearend with em so leaning that way. The 108 trap isn't even my highest that was on my stock rims and tires best e.t. though. I just have a cai and full exhaust for that trap and a tune of course. My high trap now is 113 at 6700rpm in 3rd on nitrous spinning the tires the first 1/8 mile having fun not worrying about et its a notoriously bad track so I don't really put to much into the numbers there.
^^^ you ran your sig et with just CAI and exhaust (I assume you mean LTs, midpipe and a/b) plus a tune on street tires? Damn dude...what was your 60 ft on that run?
...jeez, I need to find a different track or something[:@]

60ft was 2.06. Yeah great weather never duplicated short time payed off. Usually in the 13.4 at 105 range on the stock, 13.9 on the bling bling rims wow does rotational weight make a difference. Probably just pulled another 7-8lbs out the wheels depenending on tire weight. It is a pretty good track they had just had prepped it 3 cars before I ran. Theres 2 tracks in my area a good one and possibly the worst on the planet. No LT's just an o/h and a/b but I have a different a/b than most and swear it picked up power but no #s to prove it so I don't say anything.
