Questions about lowering
I'm thinking of getting my girl lowered. But I've read/heard that it's wise to get new struts/shocks in the process. What do I need to keep in mind in going for lowering springs? And is having a chin spoiler (Fang) + Eibach Pro Kit a bad idea?
well... you just have to be really conscience about where you're going... especially when parking over parking stops/curbs and when going in/out of driveways.
i've been looking to do the same with my 'stang, and so far the best bang for a relatively fair amount of money seems to be the tokico d-spec + eibach pro-kit springs.
I have the springs already... just need the shocks

well... to be honest, at least through ebay, the cheapest i've seen tokico's (new) is about 500 a set... which includes shipping, and about 200+ shipping for the pro-kit springs.
I got lucky and bought my new pro-kit springs off the 'stang's previous owner for $50
Every once in a while you'll see a decent deal... As a matter of fact I just saw a whole set of tokico's with eibach gt pro-kit springs go for 450 yesterday, and I regret not bidding because the winner won with one bid [:@]

Haha I was talking to my mom the other night over dinner, and of course being a loving mother, she was at least feigning interest in all the mods I have done, and plan to do. She asks me "If you knew that you were going to have to do all this would you have purchased a different car?"...See you gotta understand, she was thinking that I was doing all these mods because the car was defective. Well needless to say she now understands the love we have for our Mustangs, and how they really are a hobby to keep beefing up.
I just have springs.. no shocks. I put on the steeda sport springs.. which have been great.
I drive less than 10,000 miles a year.. so I figured I could wait on the shocks.
The ride quality is stiff, and you really feel bumps; my car bottoms out on the frame occasionally, and if i am going fast enough and hit a nice sized dip in the road.. the exhaust will scrape.
If shocks will reduce those characteristics.. then I might get them sooner.. but for 90% of driving.. the experience is better, not worse.
I always thought about getting a chin spoiler.. but after I lowered the car.. I don't want one anymore. Not only would that be an additional thing to worry about with my daily driver, but I actually have a new found love for the pony package front end.. when lowered.. it looks very sleek.. and has a good balance.
The steeda springs lowered the car just over an inch in the front and back.

I wish I could help you rhino77, but I don't have too much experience in ride quality...
As far as suspension on our cars goes, the best way to go would obviously be a nice set of coilovers by tein or eibach... i'm sure that's past your budget, as it is past mine too. I hate to say it, but there aren't that many aftermarket shocks worthy of being put on the daily driver - at least not now. I like the idea of the tokico as being adjustable - if your car is bottoming out then BAM- tune your ride to be a little bit stiffer on compression/rebound and the valving in the shocks can help control that.
Anyone ever try Koni's? They're the next step up in price
