Question Re Installing New Struts/Springs/Strut Mounts
I have the follwing new parts
1) Tokico D Specs DSP12
2) Steeda Competition Spring Set 555-8241
3) Steeda Front Upper Strut Mounts 555-8120
In TacoBill's excellent write up on installing lowering springs - https://mustangforums.com/m_3070963/tm.htm- he says
"Remove lower black plastic coil protector/isolator off of OEM coil and install onto new Steeda coil in the same position. Note: Steeda had installed a clear plastic protector on the coil about 2 coils up; we left it alone.
[/align]This step is required for ALL spring swaps, not only the Ultralites. "
Inthe Steeda spring installation instructions it does not mention this step.
Is it necessary?
The Steeda instructions for the Upper Strut Mounts say to remove and reuse the "factory rubber spring seat".
Does this mean that if I bought a pair of factory rubber spring seats and lower black plastic coil protector/isolators that I could prebuild my front struts and have them completely assembled and ready to install before I take out the old ones?

Thanks for the replies. I just got back from the Ford dealer and they don't sell the upper rubber spring mount as a separate part so unfortunately I'll have to take my old ones apart!

RE: Question Re Installing New Struts/Springs/Strut Mounts
You'll need the bump stops and dust covers off the old assemblies also. You can get suitable replacement bumpstops from Ground Control, but the dust covers are only available from Ford as part of the entire strut package.
