Default New tires question

I will be in need for some new tires soon and am thinking of getting the Fuzion ZRi 255/50-R17 to put on the stock rims. Will they fit under the wheel wells since my car is stock height? Are these good tires? I want max dry and wet traction and I will never see snow. Are they louder than the stock tires?

The 255/50-17 is very close to the diameter of your 235/55-17, they are only about 3/4" wider (3/8" inside, 3/8" outside), and are approved to be fit on 8" wide wheels. You should have no problems fitting them.

Tire Rack testing and customer reviews place the Fuzion ZRi slightly below and slightly noisier than the Kumho Ecsta SPT, which is also available in 255/50-17 at about the same price.

Thanks for the alternate!

I would hope with all the mustangs out there someone stuck with the stock rims and can give me some experience from changing from the OEM tires to these. I really have little complaints about the OEM tires except they are all-season and their wet traction.

Tire Rack has a comparative test that you can get to if the link works . . . type

www tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=97

with a period between the www and tirerack into your browser if it does not.

I run Riken ZR raptor 255/50/17. I don't know their exact weight but they are heavier than the stock tires. They grip better, have a rating of 300 and have worn very well, one summer and they still look new. Thing is they are about 70 bucks a tire so they are super cheap.

Something to consider.

I went to the Kuhmo ECSTA SPT's in 255/50-17 for track days. They have a lot more grip than the 235/55-17 Pirelli P-Zero Nero's that came on the car.

Both tires have almost exactly the same diameter so you don't need to worry about the computer, or even your speedometer being wrong.

The Kuhmo's are a little noisier and make the car ride a little worse, but it is more than offset by the increased performance.

I love my Nitto NT555's, they worked awesome at the track.

In case you were not aware per TireRack "Like all summer tires, the ZRi is not intended to be driven in near freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice."

As your profile does not indicate where you live not sure if you will get near freezing temperatures.

I have used both the Riken Raptors and the Fuzion ZRi and of the 2 the Fuzion last a hair longer on the rear but the Raptor hook really well considering the price. And yes I have also run the Kumho's, Nitto's and BFG KDW II's of the bunch I think the raptors are the best daily driver tires. Best balance between wear, cost and traction. I just make sure I have 2 more wheels with drag radial's mounted for the track and I am covered for every occasion
