Default blown d-specs on pot holes

This is my second blown d-spec on hitting a pot hole ! The car is only lowered an 1" on steeda comp springs and there was no othere damge to the car ...didnt even leave a mark on the tire or anything !

many speed shops have said the Tokico d-specs are cheaply made and produced by the thousands and specs may very . (The past ten years I always used Bilsteins from M/M and never had one blown !

Im thinking to switch to Konis but I dont know if there made any better ?

Haven't had any problems with my D-specs. Have had them on for a while and have hit them hard once or twice.

what speed shops have said that d-specs are cheaply made?

you are the first one i've heard since 09/06 to have a blown d-spec from a pothole.

if you want to switch to koni then by all means do it. they had better be higher quality for the price!

I don't own a set of Koni's but everything I have read and heard about them leads me to believe that they are of the best quality available. Probably can't go wrong with Koni's. Only drawback is the heft price...

Konis are definitely high quality pieces.

They are. Bilstein and Koni are very much alike in terms of quality.... But the Koni's are also rebound damping adjustable where Bilstein's are not. And if you happen to fail a Koni, they actually honor their warranty (not something Tokico is good at).

I've had my Koni's on my '07 GT for a year and a half. And I'm driving it every day to and from work. I have Pirelli Sottozero Winter tires on it, and it was 5 degrees when I left for work. I live in Western PA--potholes and frost heaves are not uncommon around here.

A guy I worked with blew a tire after hitting a pothole. He got the DOT the pay for it. He told them where it was. They went out and measured the hole. I was out if their acceptable specs and they replaced his tire and fixed the pot hole. Did you report yours?
