Default Ford Strut Tower Brace

I was at my local Ford dealer on Monday and saw a 2010 GT with the factory strut tower brace mounted over the plenum cover. After taking some clearance measurements I figured it should fit my '09 GT, so I ordered one. It came today. Easy install with a 13mm socket and a torque wrench. It fits perfectly over the factory plenum cover. Also was a reasonable price compared to some of the aftermarket braces I looked at.

Yeah adding a strut brace for handling is like coating an Abrams Tank with an extra layer of paint for protection from explosions.

Unless you are running 295 tires in front or over 600 hp to see serious chassis twist, it's not worth it.

How do I know this? I'm running 305 tires in front and going to be running 900 hp and at 800 I'm already seeing chassis twist, but all the factory strut braces sucked and were not built correctly so I need to create my own. So if the circumstances which benefit from a strut brace are easily felt and predictable and you don't qualify it's not going to do much for you except for lightening your wallet. The situations that benefit from an STB are the obvious ones and they're few and far between.

The march of the strut tower brace brigade will forever go on, but I have to ask - If the chassis were flexing - would anyone believe those stamped 16GA steel brackets would stop it?

I'm just saying....

Just maybe millpond bought it because he liked the way it looked. Crazy I know but at least a thought. I know a lot of people that bought a brace for that specific reason, not to road race.
