Default Spring Question

If I buy new springs, do I reuse the rubber sleeve thats on the bottom of the old spring?

I actually want to keep my stock struts/springs in 1 piece. I want to buy New struts, springs, HD steeda mounts. I know I need to find a replacement boot, jouncer, and top nut. Any idea where I can get those seperately?

It was suggested that I reuse the vinyl sleeve at the bottom of the spring.

There is also an indexing ring you need to put on the HD mounts that you just pop off the stock Ford upper mount as well. Have no idea if that is available separately, kind of doubt it....

The rubber sleeve for the lower pigtail is not available separately for the 05+ springs; I have checked with my Ford dealer and they claim nothing is listed. I suspect the sleeve comes attached to the OEM springs. I have seen polyurethane sleeves for the 04 from Prothane and Energy Suspensions, but not for the 05+ models. The sleeves are attached to the OEM springs with adhesive, but you can just peel them off and re-use on your new springs.

I don't think those are available separately, but you can purchase the entire upper strut mount from Ford. This is the part that Sam is referring to; it just prys off the OEM strut mount for use with the HD mounts.

Wow, thanks guys. The pictures help big time. Seems almost more trouble than its worth. Newtakeoff sells pair of struts and springs $150 shipped. I can rob what I need from that maybe... Not sure its worth it to me yet.

The sleeve is available - part number 20F/5R3Z5L302A. They are about 14 dollars each though. The part that I was unable to get by itself is the dust cover.

What about the rubber index ring?

Not by itself - you would have to purchase a set of stock strut mounts to get them since it's part of the strut mount. Another part you can't get by itself is the bump stop, but I was able to get a suitable replacement from Ground Control for those.
