Default Enkei PF01s & Nitto NT01s

I took the plunge and on Friday ordered a set of the new Enkei PF01 rims in 18 x 9.5 x 45 mm offset with Nitto NT01 275/40/18 tires. These are for track only use.

After two seasons and about 15 track days on the KDW2s I figure it is time to give R-comps a try

Can't wait until the first track day.

Here is a link to the rims;

Very nice choice Sleeper, I really like the look of those. How much lighter than the Ultralights are they?

What are you going to be doing with the Ultralights? :-)

Based on the Enkie web site the PF01s should be about 19 lb and I weighed my spare Ultra Lite and it is 26 lb.

I currently have two sets of Ultra Lites - one for summer non track use with 285/40/18 KDW2s and the other with 255/45/18 Blizzak snow tires. I'll be keeping both sets for now.

If I decide later on to stop using R-comps for track use or stop going to the track completely then I'll switch to using the Enkei's for summer use and sell one set of the Ultra Lites.

Congrats Sleeper, they are awesome looking wheels.

I'm thinking about getting a set of the same rims later this year. Can't decide on the 35mm or 45mm offset. Given Philostang has the 35mm offset rims on order we'll get a chance to see both.

Do you know if they will take standard 1/2-20, 13/16 lug nuts? I'm thinking about changing out the stock front hubs to the M-1104-A FR500s hubs with ARP studs. I want to be sure the nuts will fit the wheels. I’m not sure there would be enough room on my RS+M wheels and it’s hard to tell how large the bolt relief is on the PF01s from the picture.

Interesting question because I am also considering switching to the M-1104-A FR500s hubs with ARP studs and so have asked to have "through" lug nuts. They are checking on this and if they can will do so.

I stuck with the 45 mm offset as it is the same as one my Steeda Ultra Lites and so wanted to minimize the changes/risks.

Just to clarify, I was thinking clearance for the FRP M-1012-G lug nuts. I stopped by the auto parts store on the way home from work and found there are lots of different configuration 1/2-20 open lug nuts.

I was wondering if there would be rubbing issues with a 275 width tire on a 45mm offset rim. If you haven't had any rubbing issues with your 285/40/18's on a 45mm offset rim then there should be nothing to worry about.

THEY'RE IN!!

Ok, I know folks are going to hate me for this, but I don't have pics uploaded yet. I'll try to get to it by end of day Tuesday. Some important points (18x9.5, +35mm offset):

1. Initial Impression: beautiful wheels overall, very light sliver color, spokes look shorter in person...go figure.
2. Weight: 20 lbs (bare). I know, I was a bit surprised too. I thought we were looking at a solid 19 lbs, but nope. Still a pretty damn light wheel for the money.
3. Bolt Relief: like an oil drilled shaft. It should fit a standard nut (I'll confirm Tue.), but the recess is super deep. Indeed, the wheels each came with their own thin-wall deep shaft socket (nice bonus). So I now have four.
4. BBK Clearance: acres of room according to the Stoptech template. I'll see if I can get one slapped on my buddies GT500 equipped car, but I suspect Sleeper will likely have confirmed their fitment sooner than that. It really is huge back there.
5. Extras: My shop has already sold out of more than half of their stock (and all wheels in +35 mm and +45 mm offsets), but they have a new batch coming in next week. So apparently stock is on hand.

Folks are going to hate me for this too, but it may be over a week before I get them mounted and have some pics to share...work is beating me to a pulp right now (I'm spent).

As consolation, I can share a rumor with the interested...word has it that flat black is in the works (by extremely limited production, and not for 6 months or so). If you're interested, PM me and I can give you info on a shop that has them on order already (and also generally has great prices, super cool folks, etc.).

That's all for now folks...until the pics are posted.

Best,
-j

Philostang

Looking forward for your pics and test fitment on a GT500 to confirm they fit over the brakes.

My 18 x 9.5 +45s are promised for the first week in April. I guess they take longer to get to Canada.
