Default Tires other than OEM

What would be the effect of using non-OEM tires? 2006 GT, P235/50/ZR18 are the OEM tires. Need some replacements and found a great price on some P235/55/ZR18's. So, the aspect ratio is slightly different, I just don't know what effect this would have on things like the speedometer, if any. Thanks for any info...

If your speedometer is dead-nuts accurate now, you'll be going slightly faster than it reads when you mount the taller profile tires (about 3.5% faster).

It might also ride a little softer, and steering response might be a tad less abrupt as well. And they'll be almost an inch taller than your OE tires were when they were brand-new (more than an inch bigger than your old worn-out ones are now).

Pirelli's suck ***. I went with a staggered setup using Nitto 555's but that's for summer use only.

it will make your car not accelerate as fast, i would get some correctly sized nt555s or something to that tune.

255/45/18 is the most popular size on stock 18" wheels.

Wider is better.

GY Asymmetrics seem to rank up near the top . . . and probably ride better.

Well let's not arbitrarily bash Pirelli, they actually make some of the best performance tires on the globe. The Mustang OEM Zero-Hero things aren't something Pirelli would be proud of, they were a special tire made up to specifically go with the Stang at Ford spec...
ironically Ford thought that having Pirelli rubber on their mustangs would impress us, unfortunately all it's done is hurt Pirelli !

Nitto 555's are a great tire at a great price for the mustang IMHO
