Default 2011 Shocks/Struts

Here's what happened.

Took the new car in for Steeda sports and D-Spec shocks. D-Specs were off my old '06. First, the tech said one rear shock was blown. Shocks were bought new this spring! WTF! Then he couldn't fit the front struts. Something about not enough thread for the strut mount nut. Didn't really understand. Is this so? Won't the D-Specs fit from the '05 and up? Steeda Canada says they should.

Anybody run into this before or am I the first. Or was the tech incompetant?

Running on the sport springs with stock shocks. Feels better and not much harder than stock, but want to go adjustables soon. I assume I'll end having to buy a new rear shock as everyone seems to agree Tokico warranty not so good, but I would like to use the rest of the kit again.

Cheers.

Have you considered Koni Yellows? Seem to have a stellar reputation.

Yes I have, but already bought the Tokicos for my '06 back when the Konis were hard to come by. And if the D-specs don't fit, who's to say the Konis will fit the new 5.0s? I think I want to make sure of the fit before any money goes out again. I'm going to end up paying for another installation as it is. Don't want a third.

Not impressed with the blown rear shock, so I might go with the Konis if they work. Thanks. Anybody else with shocks on the new car?

Cheers.

Do you know if there is a difference in the front strut mounting between the 2010 and the '11? I would think they are the same.

Cheers.

They're probably different since the shop had trouble putting the suspension on.

I would call Sam Strano....I bet he would know if there's a difference.

I've talked to Sam and Maximum Motorsports. yes, there is a difference. Aparrently the strut mounts in the 2011 are different and the 2011 strut threads are longer...or so that's what I've been lead to believe, haven't seen it yet myself. I solved this problem by ordering a set of aftermarket caster/camber plates, which will work with the regular aftermarket struts. There's another fix that sam talked about but I forget, I'm sure he'll chime in here.

Maybe the fix is to replace the strut mounts with 2010 mounts. They are different with new part numbers. Anyone know if this works?

Cheers.
