We won! :)
I'm sure some of you in this section will like this...
My friend's team VDS Racing Adventures is trying to race here in the US...
So for their first race, VDS pulled it off on a FR500GT that compete in endurance GT3 class in Europe mostly and places like Dubai etc...
The problem though, is that that particular car is not eligible for the Rollex, Sebring (VDS goal) and other main endurance races in the Nation, so another car will have to be build to the American specs eventually...
We got the pole and won the 6 hours (and the combined 3 hours) of Miami at the Homestead track.
The car qualified at 1:23 and cruised at 1:24/25 for the first few laps and then chilled at 1:28/29 after the competition was out after the first hour.
There was a Ligier and a couple of Porsches and even a Camaro that were fast as well but couldn't keep the pace up.
The Stang ran like a swiss watch and it was smooth sailing except for the heat inside the car (hard on the driver).
Gary Yeomans, a Ford dealer in Daytona had two Stangs in a smaller class that finished the race, so it was pretty cool to see 3 Stangs on the track.

They won the GT4 European cup two years in a row (07/08) with Eric De Donker.
In 09 Ford decided to pull out (blamed the crisis) despite his success, so De Donker said "F*** it!" and he went in other class on the Ford GT but he struggled with that team.
So the Astons took over the GT4 from there...
VDS does only endurance races now and does pretty good now that the car is finally sorted out.
We had drive train issues for a while and the engine would struggle in some 24hr races.
So we drop the HP a tad and made the car faster in the turns while more reliable.
We have the car for the job now, so the task is to get the fastest drivers available.

Nice to hear everything goes well. Keep us informed please.
I saw a few races over here and hoped I could get in their pitbox and have a chat with them but ....
Are you working together with the VDS team ? Do they have plans to race in the US next year ? We'll spend our holliday over there and it would be awesome to..

Yeah, I'm part of the team.
As of now, we have 5 races planned in the US for 2011 so the car is under my care for the full year.
We can't get that car accepted for Sebring or the Rollex though...
We'll have to modify another car (from a GT4) for those races but in the meantime we have our foot in the door and we can get some experience in the less popular tracks.
We're gonna be busy, as we're still gonna race around the world simultaneously...
There are good chances that I will attempt the 24hrs of Spa in July this year.
If you're around, you'll be able to get to talk to the team...
