Default Nice upgrade for V6

Ok so at 80K miles I installed a NTO GT rear anti-sway bar. Amazing difference.

90K miles and I know the rear shocks are original and in all liklihood, roasted so.... Went back to our good friends at NTO and ordered a pair of takeoff rear shocks from a GT. Another most excellent choice.

Recommend both highly for anyone with a V6 Mustang. It has made an IMMENSE difference in the car.

I do have a question though... obviously, rear shocks not an issue to upgrade to GT spec. I am wondering... as I'm quite sure my struts are roasted at this point... can one upgrade those to GT spec as well? Not sure if the gas charging is different pursuant to the additional weight of the V8.

TIA for any insights.

What did you do for the last 80,000 miles?
Suffer with poor handling?
Gas charging is different and will change the stance of the stang.
They match the GT front springs and the GTs added front end weight.
If they worked, Ford would have used the same springs/struts/shocks
inbetween the V6, GT and GT500. But there are about 13 different
flavors of S197 springs alone.
It will under/over steer like a Bull on Marbles.
Stay with the OEM V6 or V6 struts designed for the V6.
Get a 34mm GT front sway under there or you will be over
swayed in the rear by that 20mm GT rear sway bar.
Did you put the poly bushings in there as well.
If not, the addition is just not the same with the
soft complient OEM rubber bushings.
This mixing and matching is not good for your V6es handling.
Its saves $$ but the results are always under par.
Never heard of NTO. How about a link to these items you
have from them.

I would expect that both of those changes "loosened" the handling some. So far, and partly because you have the V6, you probably haven't experienced much tail-happiness. Might be a different story if you had GT power to play with, particularly in the lower gears.

GT struts would dial a little of the looseness back out, at least the transitional part where you're in the process of "turning in" on a corner. The car might then be a little less sensitive to sloppy driving in wet or otherwise poor conditions.

I'd put the GT front bar on as well, so that you'd have a little more margin at mid-corner.

NTO? A new subdivision of NTB?

Seriously, I see way too many acronyms in written procedures at work, and not only does their use add nothing, they make it even harder to read the damn things.

Ah... sorry... NTO is actually a sponsor here so I figured most would be somewhat familiar.

As to the way the car handles, it's actually much improved. I'll stick to V6 struts though as you've all confirmed my suspicions pursuant to the weight of the front end.

Front anti-sway bar is on the "list" for future additions.

I hear ya as far as the TLA's (Three Letter Acronyms). The fools at work have added them profusely into what I refer to as their "yuppiespeak" vocabulary. So I decided to fark with them one day... cracked my old copy of MIL-STD-12 (U.S. Military specification of OFFICIAL ABBREVIATIONS) and composed an entire email using it.

'twas fun, for sure.

This is an excellent gravedig, sorry about that. I've got a 2005 v6 coupe and ran across a great deal on a gt500 suspension takeoff, only 80 miles on it. Same kit as here:

http://www.fordracingpartsdirect.com.../m-18000-g.htm

What I'm reading though is pretty discouraging... I know the v6 doesn't have the weight for the gt500 springs, but will this kit do me any good at all? I just want to confirm before I pass on it and regret it later... Thanks.

EDIT: i just realized i mixed myself up and ended up double posting this on two threads... sorry about that
