Default Edelbrock Panhard bar

I just installed a Edelbrock adj panhard bar and I noticed that it says to torque the bolts down to 50 ft lbs. I thought the mounting bolts where supposed to be torqued to 129 ft lbs. Can some one help me clear this up. I don't want to be driving down the road and have my panhard bar fall off or do I want to ruin the new bar by over tightening it. Thanks

I'd rather lean towards 129ftlbs. Did you reuse the OEM bolts and nuts?

Yes I did. The instructions said to clean and reuse the factory hardware.

As I said, I'd lean towards factory 129 ftlbs, I see no reason why Edelbrock couldn't take the same torque as OEM.

Maybe try to call some tech at Edelbrock to have him explain in detail why they specify less than half of the Factory torque. If they give a good reason and insist on 50, put some blue threadlocker to make sure it doesn't get loose.

The only thing that comes to my mind is bushing compression. If the edelbrock doesn't employ a bushing sleeve you have the possibility of bushing failure if you overtorque the fasteners.

50 is not enough. Period. If they aren't putting in parts that can hold up to OEM torque specs, then frankly they shouldn't be selling it.

Thanks for all the input. I went ahead and torqued it to 129ft lbs. If it blows out the bushings then I will go with a better brand.
