Default Front end Bang

I would like to ask some help in recognizing a hard bang coming from my left front when going over a bump at speed. It sounds like the front suspension bottoms out when it hits a bump.
It started after I installed Steeda adjustable strut mounts. The Struts seem to have bounce when I am manually pushing rigorously on the fender with the car parked.
Normal cruising seems to be a normal ride.
Is the Strut not functioning just at this moment?
I have looked under the car and have not seen any signs of one piece hitting the other and plan on putting it up on stands next weekend. (It's not a daily driver)
If I don't see anything obvious once I get it up on stands would putting one stock strut back on be a good idea to see if that solves the problem?
How can one tell a bad Strut?
Thanks for the help
