Default Spring Install

I'm going to be installing my spring onto my new struts/shocks while the old stuff is still on the vehicle. That way when I get around to doing my install when the weather breaks I'll have that part done and I can just sklip out the old ones and pop in the new ones. I already planned on buying the GT500 Upper Strut Mount, but my question is do I need anything else? Looking at install vids there's a rubber piece that's on the stock setup that gets moved from old to new, right? Is there any way I can buy that new? Also, is there anything else that gets transferred from old to new strut/spring when replacing these parts? My car is just about ready to cross 75K, so I'd rather order new parts and use that if I could.

You are going to need a pair of bump stops and dust boot. You probably have to buy a set of used struts to get them because the boots are not sold separately.

Also, what about the rubber seat for the spring at the bottom? I haven't gotten the shocks in to see if it has it or not, but in all of the pictures it doesn't have it.

You are probably talking about the rubber isolator that slips over the bottom coil of the spring. From what I've seen, it is not necessary, but probably helps prevents noise. You can get that over the part counter from Ford.

The spring cover from the bottom of the spring is available from your friendly Ford dealer. You can buy a set of bump stops from Ford Racing (PN M-5570-A). The only thing you can't buy is a new pair of strut dust sleeves. Some aftermarket struts come with new ones and some don't, so if you didn't get them with your new struts, then you need to get a pair from a wrecker.

Thanks for the info guys. I found the spring isolators & dust boots, so I'll be able to do my prebuild without issue! In case any one comes across this and needs the info regarding the spring isolator(sleeve) the Ford P/N is 6R3Z5L302A and they can usually be had for less than $10 per side.

What kind of spring did you get and shocks/struts?
My eibach sportline spring came with black isolater installed on the spring, 4 bump stops, 2 dust boots. I just used stock dustboot on stock strut.

I went with Koni Yellows & Vogtland lowering springs. I didn't open the Vogtland box up yet, but I found a place to buy the Ford isolators from. I also found a seller on eBay with the dust boots & I picked them up for $10 so I can built the fronts off the car without a need for re-using stock equipment.

On a side note Autoanything.com sent me THREE, not FOUR shocks/struts....even though one of the boxes someone clearly scratched out the qty:2 and wrote a 1 in it's place...and they also wrote a huge #1 on the box and circled it...and even drew arrows pointing to the #1 some idiot in their warehouse still boxed it up and sent it to me. I'm not super pissed because I didn't plan to install for a while, so I called them to have them rectify the situation. Bree in customer care told me last week that she would notify the warehouse and I should hear something within 2 days. That was last Friday....It's almost been a week and I didn't hear anything yet, so I will be calling today. I mean I don't expect to receive open box equipment when paying almost $700 for new in box equipment, let alone have a snafu like this. I don't think I'll ever be buying anything else from them with this level of service.

Nice post Clark.

OP, get a spring compressor to do the swap. You can rent or buy one. Well worth it. I bought one, $40 on Maui. On the mainland they are prolly half that price.
