Default 265/50/18

Im looking to put 265/50/18 tires on all four corners. I want more of a meaty tire on the car, and this tire is about as big as an 18 will get without having to move to a larger wheel diameter. Any pros or cons about this size? Nitto is the only company that seems to carry this tire, so of course I would be buying that brand. Also, if anyone has pictures of the tire installed on your car, feel free to post away.

What exact version of Nitto Tire are you referring to, and what is the height diameter of the 265/50/18's,I'm assuming 28" or so. Erik

Tire Size Comparison
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference 235/55-17 5.1in 13.6in 27.2in 85.4in 742 0.0%
265/50-18 5.2in 14.2in 28.4in 89.3in 709 4.6%

Copy/paste screwed the formatting up, but you get the idea. That seems awful fat for the front...maybe stick to stock size in the back and keep the fatties in the rear?

How wide are your rear wheels? 295/45/18's look killer. You would need a 10 inch wide wheel though.

Your car looks great, and thats the stance Im looking for. Is your suspension stock?

That's not mine, it's similar, but I'm not quite there yet. That car belongs to a darkfiregt, he used to come around but hasn't been here for a while. If I remember correctly, he just had a pro-kit (I'm sure of) and d-specs (Not positive)

That tire would be the equivalent of taller gears by a good deal. 295/40/18's would already be at 27.3" height. Erik

So I have realized these tires are way too big to be in the front, and will only use them in the back. If I plan on keeping the 255/45/18 tires in the front, are there any issues with that? Thanks for everyones help

It's a bit risky to base a preferred wheel/tire package around a tire size that does not have very much support in the marketplace. Give some thought to developing a "Plan B" in case Nitto stops producing that size. The NT555 line has been around for a while already.

A 265/50-18 is about 5% taller than a 255/45-18, which is close to the 3% figure commonly mentioned as far as ABS operation is concerned. I'd plan on being a little more cautious in the wet or under other slick road conditions, as the ABS may be just a little slower to detect the beginnings of rear tire lockup.

Caster will be reduced slightly (about 0.4°), but this small amount is probably not enough to notice from the driver's seat.

Your headlights (and fog lights, if your car is so equipped) will be aimed slightly low. Headlights can be re-aimed back up easily, but I'm not at all sure if the fogs can be pulled up as well.

5% taller is about like swapping back from 3.73's to 3.55's, and probably enough to notice at least for a short while after installing them.
