Default Shocks & Struts Upgrade

Well, after having the Eibach pro-kit on for about a year, the stock shocks and struts are toast. Looking to upgrade to the Koni STR.T package, but I have a few questions.

How necessary are aftermarket upper strut mounts? Can I get away with the stock ones?

I may install the shocks & struts at home with some friends, but if I decide to go the shop route, what is a fair price for install?

Thanks guys!

I'm not sure about fair price, but I was quoted $300 to install mine.

I've installed springs and struts/shocks in 3 Mustangs, it isn't hard, find a buddy that works on cars and watch a couple online tutorials.

And as far as I know the strut mounts aren't required, though I decided to add the GT500 strut mounts on my 2011 GT.

I think the Konis might still be on sale. I ordered mine and they were backordered for a little bit, but they eventually shipped. Could still be an option for you.

Not sure about the strut mounts, but you may not need them. They are a good idea though because the whole assembly is easier to replace once instead of taking it apart twice. I think it's your call though.

Replacing the shocks/struts is stupid easy. Honestly, I wouldn't even consider a shop because anything above the price of the beer you'd pay your friends to help would be a rip off.

The stock strut mounts are poo. I wouldn't reuse them. Mine fell apart when I removed the stock struts and installed the Konis on my '06 GT. But I had a set of GT500 mounts ready.
