We made a really nice and long post about the right way to get your suspension done. If you want to read about it you can find it on this post here:

Stance & Stability: Lower Your S197 Mustang The Right Way with these 4 Upgrades

If you're looking for the right stance, learn from the experts such as myself, who runs extreme fitments on my own Mustang:

Mod: I did read that post and I, like many others, appreciate the information. It did teach me quite a bit about suspension components.

You want grip at the track and no impact on street handling? Buy a slick tire on a set of dedicated rims and call it done.

I pull 1.6 sixtys and very nearly a front tire on these, with BBP stock springs, shocks and bar out back. I have a Roush upper and UMI lowers for hop control on road but, on a prepped track with a soft slick, it really isn't an issue.

I use some cheapo 00 Mustang 16" wheels and a 10X28" Hoosier slick.

I'm still pretty early in the decision making process but that's kindof the direction I was thinking. Getting a handling setup (which would hopefully be better than stock for strip) and dedicated tires. I was initially thinking Drag Radials so I could drive to and from the track but If I could fit them in the trunk somehow, slicks would be more fun.

I'm still working on researching all my new drag suspension options...

Two slicks on wheels easily fit in the trunk of this car with the seats down.

Don't run radials on a stick car, it's asking to break stuff. the power level, the launch rpm and technique demand a bias ply slick tire for the MT cars.

I drive 30 miles to the track on my slicks. I don't even air them up. I'm careful but it's fine.

little off topic but you may wanna look into a MSD Launch Master 2-Step Rev Limiter (11-14 GT) if you go with a drag radial. can set your launch rpm , or set it to something that don't break the rear end.

Wouldn't advise a 2 step on anything that has catalytic converters still in.

You have all the rpm control you want on a manual car in your right foot.

Best advice in this thread for a DD and 1/4 mile car.
