Hey y'all. I recently added some suspension parts to my 14 GT to drop it a little. When removing the tire from the passenger side I saw extreme wear on the inside of the tire. Since I had already completed 3/4 of the suspension work I decided to just finish the passenger side. I already had an appointment with an alignment shop scheduled so I figured whatever was the problem could be fixed.
At the shop, the guys came out with their before and after print and said they couldn't get the camber set correctly for the passenger tire and that it was -2.1 degrees which was clearly in the red. When I asked what was causing it, they said they could't tell, everything look straight, nothing appeared bent. The drivers side was perfect. Clearly there's something amiss here. They recommended Caster/Camber plates or camber bolts. They did say that Camber bolts more than likely would not work as the degree of difference is too great but its plausible it could work. I spent the $30 and bough some. Took it back a week later, and now the camber is at -1.9. Lot of good that was.

Now I'm scratching my head. I've owned the car since 5k on the OD and this was first time it was in for an alignement. I never really had a reason to bring it in prior the suspension work I did. The car has 17000 on it. Famous statement here; I haven't hit anything with my car. I promise! I can pick up the Caster/Camber plates and I'm fairly confident that it could resolve the camber issue but I strongly feel I shouldn't need to and would like to know what is causing that negative camber in the first place.

Any ideas or experiences similar to this out there?

 

What springs did you go with? Listing any other suspension mods would be helpful.

Camber bolts usually give you a +/- 1.5 degrees.

 

I took noticed of the inside wear of the tire is when I was installing lowering Springs. Until that point I had not touched the suspension. Whatever is causing the inside wear and negative camber is not due to the suspension work I did. I do understand that by installing the lowering springs it's likely causing some negative camber but, the drivers side front is within the factory spec.

My gut feeling is that this negative camber was there from the start, when I took ownership of the car from the dealership.

However, since you've asked: I went with Ford Racing K springs, BMR Adjustable UCA, BMR LCA's (Non-Adjustable), BMR Adjustable Panhard, BMR LCA Relocation brackets.

 

I bet toe is off, and quite possibly the rear axle's thrust angle.

Before the alignment, its possible either or both were off. After the first alignment, everything was in the green except the passenger front Camber.

 

Time to move some mounting holes.
