Coilovers
#11
I was looking at the Vorshlag coilovers, and they say true coilovers in the rear limit tire width. I plan on running 285/35R18 all around. The ST's are much cheaper though, so I might go that way and save 1,000 bucks. What are the spring rates on the ST's? This was the setup I was looking at: http://www.vorshlag.com/product_info...roducts_id=790 But once you add the wheels and tires it goes above my budget.

I have the ST's. I've used them. I daily drive a set in fact. And as I type this we are putting a set on a 2012. Spring rates.... Ahhh, the question everyone wants answered and then forms an opinion of no matter what the rates are. Too soft, too stiff, too this, too that.
400 front. Something softer in the rear. They won't tell you. I know as I've measured it (and just double checked it). But I also have learned to be careful what you say in public as folks like to take "information" and then play games with the internet looking for the best deal ignoring who actually helps. Suffice to say I like the rates being used. If you want to change it, we can down the road very easily with a rear spring swap only.
And FWIW, starting tomorrow there is a rebate on the kit too making a great deal even better (it's $100 or $150 off mail-in)

I'm not adverse to letting the rear rate out... I'm not going to do it for the world to see. I find that if you make a person have a discussion they are less likely to take the info and run. Still happens but then at least I've not done free work for the internet at large.

Sure.
By the way, installed a set last night on an S197 replacing some Koni and Steeda Ultralights and some uber pricey camber plates. The ran the car, and ran it hard on the backroads here, roads I use to do shakedown work before I leave for a race.
They are firm, but not at all harsh. Quiet. And between the included camber plates and strut adjustment on the body got more than -3 on one side, and just under on it on the other (pulled back to -2.5).
I drive a set daily on my GTI on the same Western PA roads. They really rock. And with the rebate they really are quite a bargain.
