Pinion Angle Question

Pinion Angle Question
I just lowered my 2009 1.5" with SR performance springs. Ive got a whiteline adjustable upper control arm and wondering if I'm checking the pinion angle correctly. I took a measurement of the driveshaft right before the pinion on a flat spot on the shaft and the pinion flange in stock setup and got a reading of -3 degree difference. after swapping the springs and shocks I did the same procedure and got a -2 degree reading both with loaded suspension on stands. Per the instructions that's what I'm supposed to have. Am I measuring from the right places or do I need to do it another way? Ive seen several threads on how to do it and they all seem slightly different and my head is starting to spin a little. I drove it about 15 miles and heard no noise and had no vibrations. sounds just like it did stock no weird noises or anything. Just don't want to trash my rear-end. Thanks for any replies.

Unless you have an aftermarket driveshaft you really don't need to worry about it much. The stock DS with it's carrier bearing and CV joint should be able to handle most drops and 1.5 isn't super extreme.
Since you still have the stock DS you're right in that you can't measure at the trans flange. You have to use the rear part of the DS since the trans to carrier angle shouldn't have really changed. Only the carrier to the rear pinion angle should have changed.
As you describe it I think you are doing it correctly.
Here is a video showing how to do it for a stock DS.

Good luck

Awesome thanks. That's the video I went by. Ill just double check it that way and let it go. Thanks for the input. I came from the trucks much easier to lower those things haha. Thanks again for the help.
