Yes, what people have said SOME people can get basicly stock 1 liter bikes and others into the 9's or 10's BUT most of the week-end warriors can't! Now once they are rolling and just having to twist the trottle in a straight linethe power to weight ratio of a superbike is all but impossible for our cars to overcome. Almost a year ago people on here called BS on me because I claimed to have beaten a bike on one of my favorite Mt road, about 11 miles long with nothing but switchback and twisties. Back then most didn't know JDM was offering a 540 hp tune for our Saleen VI superchargerand all the suspension work that had been done to our car. But oh a Mustang could never beat a bike ...... I was told!
Yes there MANY bikes out there with riders that could run and hide from me and my Mustangon my favorite road on mybest day but doesn't mean EVERY bike can or will. Last week some clown on a Buell (no idea the model)pulls up next to me (I have the top down)revs it (at 50 mphor so) Pulls a wheelie and thinks he was going to show off and pass me or something. I laughed out loud punched it and when his front tire returned back to the road I was at least 100ft ahead of him!About2 miles down the road at a stop lighthe looked over and asked what'sunder there? I said, It'sStock! He was like YEA! If his darn bike hadn't been so loud he might have heard my exhaust!
Bottom line; bikes are very fast but they are NOT easy to drive at their extremes! And it doesn't take long to figure out if the guy next to you knows how to ride or not!

 

Ihad an 04 zo6 and the car was fast but the quality of the car was sad.My 06 sc 281 ragtop is twice the car albeit a little slower.

 

For the record, these run-ins I described were very short runs (less than 1/2 a mile w/ the bikes, and 1 mile with the Z06) under safe conditions with no other cars anywhere nearby.

They weren’t choppers. I just went on Russell Mitchell’s website. Those bikes look amazing. The guys I ran into were definitely riding something that looked like his style/design (it’s funny that one of his bikes is actually called the “Mad Max,� considering my earlier description of the bikes). I can’t believe those bikes go for $50k+.


That’s definitely the sense I got just from these two encounters with what seemed like very fast bikes.


I like hearing that our Saleens stack up well against the build quality of(C5) Z06 at least.

 

I have a 03 yamaha R1 with nitrous. Only run i remember with a car satying with me was a built GT2 with close to 700hp. I had to spray too. Bikes now do run lowwww 10s to high 9s so to stay with one on the street u need alot of work done or a highway monster. Its all power to weight ratio. I put down 192hp to the wheel on the juice. My buddy who has a 03 busa built with a mxpress turbo makes my saleen look like a saturn.The corvette on the other had.... i ran into a c5 zo6 turbo and the car was a monster, he told me if he can grab at the track his doing mid 10s all day.

 

Gotta love the current gen. R1. It's a sweet ride.

 

This is probably the perfect statement. I sold my VFR because I didn't ride all that much and there are justSO many stupid people out there thatgive cyclists a bad rap. Although experienced andcarfull 99% of the time, I couldn't stand the thoughof the day I did finally dropa bike (or worse []) and have to hear the "I told you so's" from all my peers.

Someday I might own aHarley or another nice cruiser, but for now I'm much happier with four feet on the ground.

 

A FI vette is always going to be tough.

Raced a sport bike from a 30 roll to ##mph. I launched from second. The bike was the exact same speed as my car, it was a lot of fun (he had to be thinkin' WTF). At first I saw him weaving through traffic comin' up on my rear then started to try to pass, then I let him know he was in a "no fly by zone". I'm guessing it was just a 600.
