Tune or not to Tune

I thought welding in the access would void emissions warranty which is an issue in California. Polk, I am leaning your direction but will wait for the dyno numbers.

Anyhow I'm currently waiting for a Custom tune from JDM to arrive in the mail, I was totally satified with the Saleen kit, but having an Automatic Tranny, I need a SCTx2 so I can do my own ratio changes.
I installed my 475 kit, so doing my own install I cut the warrenty blanket with Saleen.
Two forum members got their cars dynoed where I am going so it should be a direct comaprison using the same method they used. They too were in your a/f range of low 12's.
I would agree that certainly makes you wonder knowing that. I agree with Polk, now do you go with a household name like JDM or Brendenspeed. I would ask Andrew, to me he is an awesome resource and might recommend someone to you.
Good Luck and have a great Holiday!!

Hey guys, I had my car dyno'ed and the AF/Ratio after I installed the 475 kit upgrade was 12.4 on the stock Saleen tune, in my mind that is to lean, as I was looking for 12 or lower. So I did some research, and basically with the engine, it was running lean because the stockfuel pump was maxed out,I needed to find a way to supply more fuel and the injectors were not maxed out by any means. I elected to addthe SVT dual GT fuel pumps and that solved my issue as fuel pressure in the lines was more then adequate with the 2 pumps. I dyno'ed tuned the car to 11.8 accross the board with 12.0 at 6K. My carmaxed out at402 rear wheel HP and 396lb-ft after the tuneat6lbs of boost. I think this is rather a conservative tune that willprove to be reliable in the longrun. The Saleen tune is good, but for those of you who are looking for something better, dyno tuneyour car. If you are making more then 400 HP the stock fuelpump is morethen maxed outand needs to be modified in my mind. There are options beyond the SVT pump as well, it is just the route Ielected to take to get the AF ratio where I wanted it.Just before my car was dyno'ed there wasa 2005 mustang GT with a similar setup to mySaleen, but with a whipple tuned torun 9PSI and he made 450rwhp, sothese stock internals are proving to be quitestrong if you tune the vehicle right. I won't be one of the guys testing the max boostnumber, but running 9 PSI is pretty impressive to me.
Tune it and enjoy it for today.Tomorrows come and go. With the headers you'll notice a nice littleHp jump and a more pronounced scream @ wot. I'm very curios to hearyour feedback on the Granatelli coils. [sm=signs003.gif]
JDM says the stock fuel pump is good for 450 rwhp. Just because it's running at max when it gets close to these numbers doesn't mean it's running lean or running out of fuel. It's just using all it has.
